The Evoshield Canes 12U NC-Gallaher won the Nations South Beach Summer Finale in Chesapeake, going 5-0 for the weekend. Saturday featured another hard-fought comeback, as the Canes recovered from a 5-2 deficit after three innings to win 7-6 in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the sixth. But Sunday was about domination, posting a ten-run third in the quarterfinal game and never looked back. The Canes did not trail at the end of any inning during bracket play and outscored three opponents by a 35-3 margin to take the title. Eight different players saw action on the mound during the weekend and seven different Canes clubbed home runs.
The Nations championship is Canes-Gallaher’s seventh title out of nine events entered so far in 2017. The season’s final event will be the Perfect Game Super25 in Fort Myers, Florida, next week.
