Canes 2019 OF and Whitman (MD) product Tyler Demartino has committed to West Virginia University and Head Coach Randy Mazey. During the the 2017 season Tyler played for the Canes North 2019 team, in the fall played for the American 2019 team and was the clean-up hitter for the Canes Prospects team that won the PG World Championships in Jupiter, FL. Canes GM Dan Gitzen had this to say about Demartino. “Tyler Demartino is an example of consistent performance paying off on multiple levels. Tyler has always produced at the plate with a big time power and high on base percentage. He flat out competes at the plate and is not overpowered against velocity. Defensively Tyler has turned himself into a versatile defender that has a big time arm allowing him to play RF or LF, but also has soft hands and good footwork in the infield that allows him to bump to 3B or even 1B. Most importantly Tyler is a competitor who wants to win and pushes himself and others around him to succeed. These traits will help Tyler to have a very successful career in Morgantown for the Mountaineers.” We would like to congratulate Tyler and the Demartino family on his commitment to WVU. You can see Tyler all of 2018 playing with the Canes National 2019 team.
