CANES CATCHER HOUSER #1 PROSPECT IN SC BY DIAMOND PROSPECTS
|
![]() |
AC Flora 2010 standout catcher, David Houser, has been turning a lot of heads his whole life playing baseball, but now, he is grabbing the attention of everyone at the collegiate and professional levels. www.thediamondprospects.com has Houser ranked as the #1 overall 2012 prospect in all of South Carolina. Diamond Prospects' Austin Alexander had this to say about Houser "Since the first time I laid eyes on an 8th grade Houser, it was immediately obvious that there was something different about him. Two years later, he is easily the best defensive catcher in our state and every single sign is that he may graduate as one of the best catchers our state has seen. His bat is beginning to evolve on both sides of the plate. Provided he continues to make strides offensively, Houser will receive very heavy pro interest during his senior year. Houser is a shutdown catcher with tremendous makeup and drive to improve. Every indication is that he will be playing this game for a long time. Houser is a very, very special breed." Canes GM Jeff Petty stated "We have a lot of special players in our progam right now, and are very blessed by that, and David is a fine young man that has a desire to play baseball at the highest levels, and we are very excited to have him playing in the Canes program for the rest of his high school days.! |

April 3rd - Canes 14U opened the season last weekend by going 4-0 and outscoring the opponents 52 to 3. Coach Daniels stated, "Our thought is to start preparing for the WWBA early by using wood bats but I didn't expect these young men to have the offensive showing they had. Our pitchers controlled the games and when there were a few scoring threats, our defense came through with some timely plays. Our pitching and defensive really allowed our hitters to stay loose and to just be the athletes they are."

This summer will be the first season with the 2013 Class Canes. The identification process has been exciting and eye opening. We have learned is there is some serious talent in this age group and it is going to be fun to watch them develop. One thing is for sure, the Canes tradition of next level prospects, talent and excellence will continue. St. Christopher's Porter Reinhart (pictured left) will be a name you can mark down. He will be a noise maker for the Canes for the next 4 years as well as Mt. View Catcher, Jason Hager (pictured right). He is a monster behind the dish and way beyond his years physically!
