16U NORTH SNEAK PEAK
This 16 North team has a little bit of everything. There are some serious next level propsects in this bunch. We have some sub 6.7 runners on this squad, some big arms and some power at the plate. We have a very sound defensive club as well. It should be a fun group to watch as they get close to 100 games under their belt with us in 2010.
Coaching Staff
Mike Petty, who has been in the Canes organization for 4 years, will take over the helm of this group. He is a young, energetic and serious baseball coach. The kids enjoy being around Coach Petty. He will do anything to help the kids get better. Rob Younce is back in his 2nd year in the Canes organization and is one of the best baseball minds we have in the program. He is also one of the best game managers we have as well. Younce really knows how to teach the game and the kids are lucky to have him around. This will be a very good coaching staff.
Pitching
This staff is loaded with good arms. Zak Wasilewski is a pure power left handed pitcher who has been up to 92. When he is on, he can really spot it all up and he is as good as there is in the country. Stephen Godfrey is a big game pitcher and has proven that in 2009 with the Canes. Josh Sborz, Joe Warren, Nick Grant, and Matt Reed can give us innings and work in the upper 80's. Shane Johnsonbaugh, Connor Henderson, Mitch Moynihan, Joe Lane, Kyle Moore, Alec Hulmes, and Christian Younce can all get it done on with mid 80's stuff the bump as well. This is a very good staff.
Swinging The Stick
There are a lot of exciting bats on this club. Matt Reed, Connor Henderson, Christian Younce, Shane Johnsonbaugh, Brandon Lowe, Matt Campbell and Kyle Moore have proven that they can be big time producers with the bat in their hands. Josh Henderson is a very exciting prospect. We feel that some of our newcomers are going to be very good hitters and will get on a lot of radar screens quickly.
The Glove
One thing is for sure - we can flash the leather with talent all over the field. With Matt Reed and Christian Younce behind the dish, there will be no running game against the Canes. Matt Campbell, Brandon Lowe and Tyler Best will control the middle of the infield and one of the most explosive speedsters in the country in Kyle Moore will patrol centerfield. These guys make it easy for any pitcher who can keep the ball within reach of these guys. Connor Henderson is great corner defender. We really feel we have a lot of other players that are going to be big pieces of the puzzle as well.
