Entering his 5th season as the Hurricanes Head Coach and with 4 full seasons under his belt as the Canes skipper, Jeff Petty has seen 105 of his players receive baseball scholarships, and the 2009 North 16U Canes win the 2009 Perfect Game World Wood Bat Association National Champions 1st place out of 192 teams. In 2008 North Canes right handed pitcher Ethan Carter play in the Aflac All American game on national television in 2008, and 3 of his players selected in the major league draft out of high school.

Petty is currently an associate scout for the New York Yankees working under area supervisor Scott Lovekamp. Jeff is also currently running Dynamic Baseball and covers the state of Virginia, and Southern Maryland for top prep prospects.
At the High School level Petty spent two years as an assistant coach at AAAA Purnell Swett High School in Pembroke, NC working under Jerome Hunt in 2005, and William Deese in 2006.
At the collegiate level Petty spent one year as an assistant strength and conditioning coach under Jeff Bolles of UNC Pembroke. Working under Coach Jeff Bolles Petty was given the job of program design and sport specific training in all of UNC Pembroke's NCAA sports.
Jeff played 4 years under Rick Holcomb at Courtland High School in Fredericksburg, VA where in 2000 Courtland won the Virginia State Championship. Petty received many accolades in his prep career such as.
USA Today Honorable Mention All American 2000, 1st Team Virginia All State 2000, 1st Team All Region 2000, 1st Team All Battlefield District 2000, 1st Team All Area Fredericksburg Free Lance Star, Most RBI's in a season in Courtland Baseball history.

Petty played his college baseball for UNC-Pembroke under Paul O'neil for 3 years.
